Located at a strategic location near to the famous landmark of KOMTAR tower, the Teochew Cendol stall is situated at a small alley next to Penang Road, where you can see long queues and crowded tourist swarming in daily. With over 80 years of history, Penang Road Teochew Cendol has consistently provided the best cooling dishes for a summer country like Malaysia.
2. Char Kuey Teow at Joo Hooi Cafe
Just next to Penang Road Famous Teochew Cendol stall is Joo Hooi Cafe, a Kopitiam which sells a variety of food such as Penang Laksa, Rojak, and last but not least, Char Kuey Teow. 3. Bayan Baru 888 Hokkien Mee, aka Prawn Noodles
In Bayan Baru, there is a famous shop called 888 Hokkien Mee. However, this is not the Hokkien Mee that we commonly knew, with black sauce and thick noodles. In Penang, Hokkien Mee is prawn noodles, so don’t get messed up! The taste of the prawn noodle soup is so delicious that you would savour it till the last drop. Served with fresh shrimp and slices of succulent chicken, you wouldn’t want to miss out such a luscious dish~
4. Ice Kacang@ Kek Seng Coffee Shop
Another nice cold served dessert that melts your heart will be Ice Kacang. Unlike many others, the Ice Kacang in Kek Seng Coffee Shop has its uniqueness. They have two toppings of ice-creams that you can choose on your preferences. Their best-selling topping is Durian and Sarsi flavour ice-cream.
5. Famous Asam Laksa at Pasar Air Itam
Whenever tourist visits the famous Kek Lok Si Temple in Penang, it is not hard to spot a stall right under the temple, with an uncle that sells Asam Laksa. This is the famous Asam Laksa at Pasar Air Itam has to offer. With its mouth-watering fish with spicy broth noodles, the Asam Laksa here is simply claimed to be the best by locals and international tourists. But a fair warning ahead, not everyone can take the pungent and fishy smell of the dish, but the taste of it is guaranteed.
