If you’re looking for top environment-friendly MICE venues in Bangkok, then the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre should be one of your options. Want to know why it is considered a green MICE venue? Keep reading this Bangkok travel guide to find out more.

About the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre

As a responsible corporate traveler, you must also support any organization or idea that conserves the environment. Like any other elegant and huge MICE venues in Bangkok, QSNCC provides a beautiful meeting or event place that is as big as 65,000 square metres, but here’s how this place became an eco-friendly one.

Energy-saving

QSNCC saves energy by switching off unnecessary lights and lowers air-condition usage in event and office during lunch breaks, sets the air-condition thermostats at 25 degrees Celsius, installing sun-shield window film to reduce the heat from the sun to the centre, installing escalator sensors to power it down when not in use, using LED lights to save electricity, and using solar cell as an alternative source of energy.

Environment-friendly

QSNCC implements different practices that are good for the environment. These practices include installing digital signs to display information on meeting rooms instead of using paper or plastic signage, increasing green areas by planting trees and shrubs, using left-over fruits and vegetables as an effective micro-organism to plants and trees, and replacing paper coupons with cash cards in all food chains. The QSNCC also conducts seminars and training for their employees to create environmental awareness and care for each other.

CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)

The Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre management conducts or supports different events and projects that will benefit not only the environment but also communities. These projects and actions are the NCC-TTM Mini Marathon Chalerm Phrakiart on Mother’s Day in honour of her majesty the queen and the “Love Sharing Market” project that benefits disadvantaged children. They also donate used vegetable oil for biodiesel production and donate aluminum can tabs to aid prosthetic limb manufacturing.

Services and Facilities

Despite this, there are several alcohol workshops in Singapore that will give you a bang for your buck. Not only are these workshops enjoyable for all, but they are also the perfect post-MICE itinerary to allow your delegates to unfold.

GIN AND TONIC MASTERCLASS

Another one-of-a-kind alcohol workshops in Singapore would be this gin and tonic pairing masterclass. Hosted by cheeky little bar Spiffy Dapper, this masterclass will teach you the history and science that goes behind a gin and tonic in Singapore.

While the gin and tonic duo is not uncommon, not many know that this ubiquitous pairing actually started off in the jungles of Malaya. This workshop will then give an in-depth explanation as to how popularity took this drink further and further away from its roots.

The Great Food Festival Singapore: The Perfect Ending To Your MICE Event

The Great Food Festival Singapore: The Perfect Ending To Your MICE Event

Singapore is touted as the food capital of the world and it is not difficult to see why. Home to more than 100 hawker centres, you will never be more than 3km away from a hawker centre. As of 2018, Singapore had 39 Michelin-star restaurants to its name, two of which were hawker centre stalls.

Singaporeans take their food very seriously and as such numerous food festivals have been held on this tiny red dot over the years. This year, The Great Food Festival will be coming to Singapore for the second consecutive year. After a long eventful day, there’s no better way for you and your MICE delegates to wind down than for a night of eating and drinking.

STAR CHEF ARENA

There will be three festival zones, each specialising in a different area of the culinary world but all sure to make your mouth water. First up, the Star Chef Arena.

As the name suggests, this will be a star-studded area with 14 celebrity chefs gathered together to present some of the most tantalising dishes. Regardless of the cuisine you are in to, there is bound to be something for you.

Braised Kurobuta Pork Belly with Steamed Bun by Chef Sam Leong | Photo Courtesy: The Great Food Festival

Home-grown chef, Sam Leong, will be serving up Asian-inspired dishes at The Great Food Festival. He has taken flavours familiar to Singapore and infused them into his world-class dishes. While any chef can serve up a plate of Wagyu Beef Short Ribs, Chef Sam Leong has slow cooked it in a Thai red curry and served alongside lychees. This is definitely not your typical Singaporean food. If beef is not for you, the classic braised pork belly bun is also on his menu. Having cooked for distinguished guests such as Lee Kuan Yew and Queen Elizabeth II before, Chef Sam Leong’s cooking is sure to tickle your fancy.

If your delegates are not accustomed to the Asian palate, there will also be a variety of European dishes to indulge in. On the Cerea brothers’ menu are red tuna tataki style, braised veal cheek, and “Gnocco” filled with cheese fondue. This celebrity chef duo is also behind a three Michelin-star restaurant in Italy. No matter what your heart (and stomach) desires, there will always be plenty of food in Singapore for you.

ROLLIN’ SWEET TIMES

Moving over to the confectionaries, the Rollin’ Sweet Times arena is more than just desserts; it will be a treat for both your taste buds and your eyes. Your delegates are sure to enjoy this arena if they have a sweet tooth!

Culinary arts clearly runs in the family because Chef Sam Leong’s son, Chef Joe Leong, has recently joined his father in his restaurant. Chef Joe Leong’s focus is very much on putting exquisite modern twists on traditional Chinese desserts in Singapore. As such, you will be treated to a reconstructed egg tart and textures of black sesame and coconut at The Great Food Festival.

Molecular gastronomy is still relatively new to the food scene in Singapore. Luckily for you and your delegates, N2 Extreme Gelato will be at The Great Food Festival to give dessert lovers the opportunity to transform customisable drinks into various nitrogen creations. N2 Extreme Gelato is a dessert store based in Sydney that specialises in creative uses of liquid nitrogen. They will be hitting our sunny shores this September so be sure not to miss out!

THE CELLAR

This last arena is sure to excite wine lovers! At The Cellar, you and your delegates will be treated to exquisite pairings of wine and cheese. Sip on a full-bodied red wine from France or opt for a lighter sparkly Rosé from New Zealand. Not only that, but cured meats have also especially been curated for you to enjoy alongside your booze.

After all that eating and drinking, falling into a food coma is inevitable. To ensure that your delegates are able to safely return to their hotels to snooze, consider hiring a private car with a driver.
