The Great Food Festival Singapore: The Perfect Ending To Your MICE Event

The Great Food Festival Singapore: The Perfect Ending To Your MICE Event

Singapore is touted as the food capital of the world and it is not difficult to see why. Home to more than 100 hawker centres, you will never be more than 3km away from a hawker centre. As of 2018, Singapore had 39 Michelin-star restaurants to its name, two of which were hawker centre stalls.

Singaporeans take their food very seriously and as such numerous food festivals have been held on this tiny red dot over the years. This year, The Great Food Festival will be coming to Singapore for the second consecutive year. After a long eventful day, there’s no better way for you and your MICE delegates to wind down than for a night of eating and drinking.

STAR CHEF ARENA

There will be three festival zones, each specialising in a different area of the culinary world but all sure to make your mouth water. First up, the Star Chef Arena.

As the name suggests, this will be a star-studded area with 14 celebrity chefs gathered together to present some of the most tantalising dishes. Regardless of the cuisine you are in to, there is bound to be something for you.

Home-grown chef, Sam Leong, will be serving up Asian-inspired dishes at The Great Food Festival. He has taken flavours familiar to Singapore and infused them into his world-class dishes. While any chef can serve up a plate of Wagyu Beef Short Ribs, Chef Sam Leong has slow cooked it in a Thai red curry and served alongside lychees. This is definitely not your typical Singaporean food. If beef is not for you, the classic braised pork belly bun is also on his menu. Having cooked for distinguished guests such as Lee Kuan Yew and Queen Elizabeth II before, Chef Sam Leong’s cooking is sure to tickle your fancy.

If your delegates are not accustomed to the Asian palate, there will also be a variety of European dishes to indulge in. On the Cerea brothers’ menu are red tuna tataki style, braised veal cheek, and “Gnocco” filled with cheese fondue. This celebrity chef duo is also behind a three Michelin-star restaurant in Italy. No matter what your heart (and stomach) desires, there will always be plenty of food in Singapore for you.

ROLLIN’ SWEET TIMES

Moving over to the confectionaries, the Rollin’ Sweet Times arena is more than just desserts; it will be a treat for both your taste buds and your eyes. Your delegates are sure to enjoy this arena if they have a sweet tooth!

Culinary arts clearly runs in the family because Chef Sam Leong’s son, Chef Joe Leong, has recently joined his father in his restaurant. Chef Joe Leong’s focus is very much on putting exquisite modern twists on traditional Chinese desserts in Singapore. As such, you will be treated to a reconstructed egg tart and textures of black sesame and coconut at The Great Food Festival.

Molecular gastronomy is still relatively new to the food scene in Singapore. Luckily for you and your delegates, N2 Extreme Gelato will be at The Great Food Festival to give dessert lovers the opportunity to transform customisable drinks into various nitrogen creations. N2 Extreme Gelato is a dessert store based in Sydney that specialises in creative uses of liquid nitrogen. They will be hitting our sunny shores this September so be sure not to miss out!

THE CELLAR

This last arena is sure to excite wine lovers! At The Cellar, you and your delegates will be treated to exquisite pairings of wine and cheese. Sip on a full-bodied red wine from France or opt for a lighter sparkly Rosé from New Zealand. Not only that, but cured meats have also especially been curated for you to enjoy alongside your booze.

After all that eating and drinking, falling into a food coma is inevitable. To ensure that your delegates are able to safely return to their hotels to snooze, consider hiring a private car with a driver. As Travel141 will be launching an International Car Rental service soon, do subscribe to our newsletter below in order to receive regular updates.

MICE Venues in Singapore: Top 5 Unconventional Places to Hold Your Corporate Event

If you have ever held a Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, Exhibitions (MICE) event in Singapore or been to one, chances are that it was held at Suntec Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre, or any chain hotel located in town. While these convention centres are great due to their large halls that can accommodate thousands of people, they may come across as a little stuffy and dull. Instead, if you are looking for MICE Venues in Singapore that add an element of fun and uniqueness, this Singapore Travel Guide will show you where some of the best MICE venues in Asia are.
