Singapore Hotels Reopen for Bookings and Short Staycation

Summer is just about over, and many of us probably are longing for a much-needed break from a space you’ve occupied for the past couple of months.

In light of the new standards on cleanliness, hygiene, and social distancing as things go back to the “new normal”, Singapore hotels may reopen safely for short staycation after the ‘circuit breaker’ period.

Singapore hotels have started to apply permits 03 July 2020, which will allow staycation bookings including the reopening of kids’ facilities.

Hotels may reopen following MTI’s approval

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) announced that hotels may start to apply their permits to reopen for staycations. However, they must continue to follow safe management measures for hotels, guests, and staff.

Hotels with approved MTI permit must regularly submit data regarding their staff and guest numbers to authorities every Monday before 2 pm. Additionally, they should inform immediately if they have a guest infected with COVID-19.

Anticipate return of recreational sport & activities allowed in Phase 2

In Phase 2 of the ‘circuit breaker’ period, more recreational facilities and activities may resume, including hotels, provided that they follow safety protocols and take a more cautious approach.

With strict compliance with STB’s and the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s (MTI) measures, hotel spas, restaurants, pools, and function halls may also reopen.

Moreover, the hotel will have to impose strict guidelines on handling guests. This includes requiring guests to fill up health declaration forms, go through thermal scans, and listen to thorough briefings about COVID-19 prevention.

In addition, guests who exhibit any symptoms or are feverish will be denied entry.

A safe and fulfilling staycation in the “new normal”

People can practice living in the “new normal” while relaxing and enjoying the luxury of hotel staycations and leisure as Singapore moves towards Phase 3.

With hotels reopening, it’s surely delightful news to everyone. But we must always remain cautious and practice safety measures by wearing a face mask, social distancing, regular disinfecting, and good hygiene.
