During Songkran, locals in Bangkok go back to their hometowns or provinces making foreign visitors more noticeable. Khao San Road is one of the famous roads to head on during this festival. It is where thousands of locals and foreigners join to celebrate by walking down the road accompanied by lively music while splashing buckets of water at each other. This month is supposedly another month to look forward to the Songkran Festival in Thailand, yet the country is still mourning from the death of their king so no festival for this year. Last year, I was able to join the crowd in Phuket Thailand, it was an amazing experience as I arrived in Phuket on the day of Songkran. Live music, people with water guns who shoot everywhere, locals putting on wet powder on your face and the amazing smile I saw from the people was really unforgettable. If you get the chance to be in Thailand for this festival, never miss witnessing this festival. . . . . #photographers #photo #picture #ipfanphoto #awesome_photographers #TBScommnunity #TLPicks #travelstroke #passionpassport #livetravelchannel #forbestravelguide #wearetravelgirls #letsgoeverywhere #canonfanphoto #wonderful_places #travelingourplanet #goingplaces #LiveTravelChannel #bbctravel #travelgoals #thailand #phuket #wearetravelgirls #songkran2017 #southeastasia #digitalnomadgirls #femaletravelblogger
Phuket, where many popular Thailand beaches are found is also one of the best places to celebrate the festival. As a matter of fact, even the police officers join by replacing their guns with water pistols. In addition to that, there is also a pageant called Miss Songkran that is being held. The famous Patong Beach is where parties are most likely to be in full swing.
Pattaya is known to be a city with a huge party scene so it isn’t surprising that the celebration lasts the longest here. The beach will be full of parties and you can even see buckets of water along the road. Furthermore, water fights will go on during the regular days of Songkran but the celebration will remain until the following week.

The celebration in Koh Samui is not as intense compared to other Thailand travel destinations such as Phuket. Nevertheless, it is still one of the best places to celebrate the festival. Children usually hop on a pick-up truck and they’re being driven around as they fire their water pistols. On the other hand, towns located on the west coast celebrate the festival in a traditional manner.
Celebrating Songkran Festival should definitely be on your list of things to do in Thailand. Wherever you choose to celebrate it, one thing’s for sure: you’re going to have a fun and memorable experience!
