Devotees celebrate Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and achievement of Nirvana all in the same day, the Wesak day. During the morning, people will gather to go to temples, meditate, and join the candle-lit processions. Doves are also set free as a sign of respect and goodwill. The highlight of this celebration is in the evening where there is a procession of floats surrounded by colourful flowers and accompanied by children singing and monks chanting prayers, sprinkling holy water. The procession starts at the Malaysian Buddhist Association.
