The Perfect Destination to Spend Your Summer Vacation

Cover Photo

Summer vacation is the best season of the year in the South East Asia region. If you plan on having your summer vacation here, check out these two wonderful places. You would be surprised that one of them might just be your perfect destination for spending your summer vacation!

1. Phuket

Being known as the largest island in Thailand, and probably the most famous island in the country, Phuket has certainly been a tourist favourite in terms of spending their summer here with their stunning beaches and relaxing atmosphere.

Beaches and Islands

What is summer without a beach? Phuket itself is full of wonderful beaches and bays, the most prominent one being Patong Beach. It is almost crowded during the peak seasons, but not during summertime. You can enjoy the dazzling white beach and counting cruises pass by every day, a unique way to soak under the sun for a suntan.

Besides, you can go hopping islands around Phuket as well, there are some rising stars such as Phi Phi Island, Phang Nga Bay (James Bond Island), Similan Island, Coral Island, etc. It is the perfect location for snorkelling!

Cheap and Budget

Though you might be living in an expensive and luxury hotel during your summer visit, there are also some cheap and affordable rustic huts for backpackers, as low as 1000 baht. You can also search for pad Thai, banana pancakes with condensed milk from street vendors for 100 baht.

Travel 141 | The Perfect Destination to Spend Your Summer Vacation | Travel141 | Cheap

Most tourist love to visit their 7-Eleven store in Phuket. The foods and groceries are extremely cheap over there! Don’t forget to take a selfie with Lays~

Spa and Massage

I think most of us could agree on this. One of the vital reason for visiting Phuket is to get a well-deserved massage. Thai massages are famous for being soothing and rejuvenating. Indulge in a relaxing aromatherapy session and let go off your heavy workloads and burdens.

2. Da Nang

Most people would choose Ho Chi Minh City or Ha Long Bay for a visit in Vietnam. However, the city of Da Nang, particularly the Cau Vang Bridge shocked the world by surprise with its fantastic architecture design. This summer, you could also pay a visit here, and enjoy a special journey that would take your breath away!

Instagramable Spot

There are tons of Instagramable Spot here, that I could only mention a few. First off, we have the “Hands of the God”, the red hot Cau Vang Bridge, a 150 meters long pedestrian walkway bridge, that rest on two massive hands.

Travel 141 | The Perfect Destination to Spend Your Summer Vacation | Travel141 | Instagramable Spot

Then we have the Cau Rong Bridge (Dragon Bridge), a golden dragon-shaped serpentine-like creature that could spit fire and water. It is one of the coolest bridges ever seen before.

Culinary Paradise

You can get practically any food here, but it is advisable to dine in the best local Vietnamese cuisine here. There is some deliciously cooked food such as Mi Quang, a traditional Central Vietnam Noodle dish that served all day long.

Travel 141 | The Perfect Destination to Spend Your Summer Vacation | Travel141 | Culinary

Or you could enjoy banh xeo, a sizzling pancake made of rice flour and stuffed with veggies and shrimp, right under the hot sun. Simply delicious!

Slower Pace of Life

If you want an urban escape, Da Nang might just be your perfect spot, especially during your summer vacation. What can be more perfect than to have your phone stop vibrating for a fine sunny evening?

Travel 141 | The Perfect Destination to Spend Your Summer Vacation | Travel141 | Slow Pace

You can just marvel at the spectacular view in the longest cable car ride before heading on top of the French village, Ba Na Hills, and enjoy your lazy afternoon with a sip of hot coffee.

6 Travel tips you need to know about driving abroad

Travel tips for a safe and stress-free driving abroad| Travel tips | Travel141

Exploring a new country is one of the enjoyable things when travelling. With endless roads to discover, sights to see and things to try, a travel abroad gives you the right amount of adventure and excitement you need.

While most travellers prefer using the local transportation to get to their destinations, some want to have it their way by driving around at their own pace.

But before you start day dreaming of your international road trip, you first need to have an international driving permit. It is issued by the National Government Transport Department and standards as well as qualifications for this vary in every country. So doing some research before your trip will be a big help.

Read on as we share with you some helpful travel tips when driving in a foreign country during your vacation!

Car rental precautions

Travel tips for a safe and stress-free driving abroad |Travel tips | Travel141

If you’re on a vacation abroad and would like to have your own car to drive around, you’re most likely to get it from a car rental company. Now, understanding the precautions of car rental will save you from encountering problems along the way.

When it comes to payment, most car rental services accept major international credit cards. But in case you want to pay in cash, normally you would need to pay the rent and deposit in advance. The deposit will be given back to you once the car is returned.

Another important travel tip is to buy insurance. You’ll never know what can happen but having insurance can save you, and your family from further costs and troubles.

Take note of the little things

Travel tips for a safe and stress-free driving abroad |Travel tips | Travel141

Consider the distance of the places you’re planning to drive to so that you’ll know if you need to make a stop in a gas station and fuel up. You wouldn’t want to be lost in remote areas with no phone signal and gas, right?

It’s also crucial to check if the headlights are working in case the night falls and you’re still on the road. Don’t forget to check the wipers too if they are working well, to be ready for some rainfall.

Don’t drive when you feel tired

Travel tips for a safe and stress-free driving abroad |Travel tips | Travel141

You know when they not to drink and drive? It’s because when you’re under the influence of alcohol, you’re not in total control of your mind and body. It can make you feel sleepy. The same is true with driving when you lack sleep or when you have a fatigue. Tiredness can cause you to also fall asleep while driving. So take a break and rest up when you need to!

Download a GPS navigator or mobile phone app

Travel tips for a safe and stress-free driving abroad |Travel tips | Travel141

Unfamiliar roads can be exciting to explore but getting lost in a foreign place isn’t always really a walk in the park. To avoid such hassle, download a GPS app or phone navigator. Wouldn’t you want to spend more time on the destination itself rather than going back and forth on the same road for hours?

Bring daily necessities

Travel tips for a safe and stress-free driving abroad |Travel tips | Travel141

Necessities come in handy when you least expect them. Since you’re driving a rented car, it is much easier to pack for these necessities for the things you need while on the road. If we’re talking about food, important travel tip is to buy from the supermarket because they are generally cheaper compared to those sold in tourist attractions.

Umbrellas, raincoats, and jackets are also important to make sure you are ready for any temperature drop or rain when it comes.

Bring a first aid kit

If you’re under a medication, remember to pack your medicines with you as hospitals can sometimes be far away. It’s also better to get yourself a first aid kit to be ready for any injury or accident.

In addition, bring with you a portable charger you can use. In connection with emergency situations, there’s nothing a dead cell phone can do. Have your phone fully charged not just to take pictures during your vacation but to be ready to make some calls just in case!

10 Travel tips to make long-haul flights more enjoyable

Travel tips to make long-haul flights bearable| Travel tips | Travel141

Travelling makes life more exciting. The endless destinations with stunning attractions make choosing our next travel location one of the exciting things when planning our vacation. But no matter how beautiful these places are, sometimes we can’t help but feel a little uneasy when travelling through long hour flights. That’s why we’ve come up with 10 travel tips for today’s travel guide to let you in on how you can survive long-haul flights on your next vacation!

1.Choose a good seat

Travel tips to make long-haul flights bearable |Travel tips | Travel141

Imagine being stuck in your seat for about seven or more hours. One of the tips for long-haul flights like this is choosing a good seat. For better leg room, you may opt to choose a seat on the aisle or choose the emergency exit seat. Also, stay away from those near the bathroom to avoid noise from the people who will go back and forth to use it. You may also want to avoid the front row seats as these are where passengers with babies are usually assigned. (Remember, sometimes cute babies and long plane rides don’t go well together.)

2.Wear something comfortable

Travel tips to make long-haul flights bearable |Travel tips | Travel141

The temperature on planes varies so it’s advisable to wear something that’s easy to take off like a sweater or a jacket. Cotton T-shirts are also a good choice because it’s breathable and comfortable. Stay away from rough clothes or wool tight clothes as they can cause itch during your flight.

To get through airport security faster, avoid wearing boots or shoes with laces so you can easily take it off and not have everyone behind you waiting. Also bring with you a pair of socks to keep your feet warm and clean when taking off your shoes!

3.Pack a moisturizing spray

The long hours of air condition on the plane when you travel can leave your skin dry. It’s better to bring with you a moisturizing spray and make sure to hydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water during your flight.

Travel Tip: Remember to pack only less than 100ml of liquid on the plane. Also, don’t forget to put the spray in a transparent plastic bag.

4.Avoid eating too much or too little before the flight

The high-altitude environment on airplanes makes it harder for food to be digested. And while eating before your flight is okay, you may want to just munch on snacks during your flight. Getting stuffed can cause vomiting, airsick and nausea. Experts recommend eating low-calorie food and choosing warm food instead of cold ones like raw salads.

5.Listen to music

Travel tips to make long-haul flights bearable |Travel tips | Travel141
Music can help you fall asleep. Make the most out of the entertainment system provided by your airline and see which music you would want to listen to. Moreover, this entertainment system will most likely also include movies and games.

6.Use pillows and blankets

Not all airlines will provide pillows or blankets so if you want to make sure you can use one, pack your own instead! Using these may help you get more comfortable and let you sleep faster.

7.Bring your own entertainment

Travel tips to make long-haul flights bearable |Travel tips | Travel141

Keep yourself entertained during long-haul flights by making sure your music playlist, favourite movies, TV series, and games are on standby. Download them to your gadget and have it all set before your flight. You might also want to bring your go-to books for other entertainment options.

8.Bring some travel essentials

The cabin environment is different from your comfortable, quiet room at home. So if you want your flight to be a little less of an inconvenience, bring with you things that would help you sleep better. Earplugs, socks, sleeping mask and neck pillow are your best friends to help you endure long hours on the plane.

9.Watch out for DVT

Travel tips to make long-haul flights bearable |Travel tips | Travel141

DVT – also known as Deep Vein Thrombosis happens when there’s a blood clot in a deep vein. It commonly happens on the legs and feet and can be prevented by drinking plenty of water, moving or stretching your legs, or by walking around.

10.Avoid caffeinated drinks

Caffeine dehydrates you faster and will not help you fall asleep. When it comes to alcoholic drinks, though they are depressants, they might act as stimulants first and will keep you up after a few hours. For a safe choice, opt for a decaffeinated tea instead!

Now you know these 10 travel tips on how to survive a long hour flight, you’ll be more excited to book another destination no matter where it is in the world! For starters, look through Travel141 and you might just find you next location!
