See Jim Thompson House Museum

James H. W. Thompson, is an American businessman who saved Thailand’s silk industry. In 1948, he started the Thai Silk company and improved the silk industry in Thailand. He built a traditional teak house of a Thai architectural design. Inside the house is a collection of traditional Thai paintings and wide range of Asian arts. Jim Thompson mysteriously disappeared in 1967 during a visit in Malaysia.

The Jim Thompson Art Center, is also located in the compound of Jim Thompson House Museum, to support Bangkok’s local and international arts and cultural exhibitions and to build a place for events, seminars and workshops.
